I know its been a bit quiet, but the posts are coming in – I promise! I am here today to talk about Personal Development. I am sure by now you all are familiar with this and my hope is that you all have invested in your own personal development. If not, that’s fine – by the end of this post I hope you reconsider.
Let’s talk about how I discovered what personal development was and what I eventually decided to do about it. During my adolescent years I would say my investment started. I always wanted to find ways to build my confidence, learn new skills, and develop a mindset that would get me through that wacky time of my life. I stayed in the guidance counselor office because I was always on the quest to figure my life out. When I got to college, I soared high in the personal development realm. I may have been too into it to be honest, haha. Maybe a slight obsession but that’s not too wild, right?
I loved learning about the lives of others. Whether that was through documentaries, reading autobiographies, or attending a motivation speech. I wanted to know where they came from and how they ended where they were. It was inspirational to me. As I continued to invest my time, because lets face it, as a college student I really didn’t have much money, I slowly began to invest in my personal development. I learned the importance through the wisdom of others that I encountered.
Personal development helps one to build confidence, build upon gifts and talents that they already possess, and it takes you on a continuous learning journey. What I noticed when I began to invest in my personal development was the urgency to come out of my comfort zone. Comfort zones are cozy but costly. When I got out of my comfort zone, and literally out of my own way, I was able to see the layers of confidence that I held. Whew, and let me add, confidence is sexy!
Now that I got a taste of what investing in my personal development is like, I am helping others do the same. I decided to utilize my coaching talents to become a Personal Development Coach. I love seeing others invest in their development and well-being. Sometimes we don’t know that we need the support until we have nothing to cling onto – not even our comfort zones. If you are interested in receiving coaching, schedule a discovery call with me to see if we are a good fit. I am sure that I will be able to assist you on this journey. Until then, get a pen and note pad out and began to write down the things that you want to see enhanced in your life. Write down what you need to get started.
